Would you like to be notified automatically whenever something new has been posted on the web about your industry? Would you like to be notified anytime your competitor runs a sale or offers something new? Would you like to be notified anytime someone writes something about you on the web? In this post I am going to talk to you about a free service from google that can do all of that for you.
What is Google Alerts
Google Alerts is a free service from Google where you can enter some “keywords” or “phrases” that you would like to be notified on whenever Google finds something new on the web about that keyword or phrase. Google will send you an email (daily, weekly, or as it happens) with a link to what was posted and a short summary of what was posted.
Why Should You Use Google Alerts
Google alerts are a great way to:
- Keep up with things being written about your name or brand or product
- Keep up with new news in your industry
- Spy on your competitors
- Provide inspiration for things to blog about
How to Set-up Google Alerts
Go to http://google.com/alerts. Enter the keyword or phrase you want to monitor (enter your term in quotes), select how often you want to be emailed with the results. There you go, you have created your first Google Alert. Create as many of these as you need.
Now it is your turn
